E’wao Kagoshima

Artist BIO

E’wao Kagoshima is a renowned international painter, sculptor and collage artist of the Pop Japanese and Surrealist genres. He has participated in solo and group exhibitions worldwide, including The New Museum, MoMA PS1 and galleries throughout New York City, Tokyo, Osaka, Paris, London, Brussels, and Zurich. Kagoshima emerged as an artist in Tokyo in the late 1960s and joined New York’s East Village art scene in 1976. He creates hyper-imaginative and erotic surrealist paintings with elements of kitsch and caricatures, as well as motifs from traditional Japanese culture.
